Social Good Summit – Tapping the Global

Social Good Summit – Tapping the Global

This is an apt way as any to officially launch our ‘IdeaSpace‘.

In light of the Social Good Summit being held from September 22-24, we’ll be joining the world and hosting our own local discussions around ideas gathered from presenters.

So what is the Summit exactly?

The Social Good Summit is a three-day conference where big ideas meet new media to create innovative solutions. Held during UN Week from September 22-24, the Social Good Summit unites a dynamic community of global leaders to discuss a big idea: the power of innovative thinking and technology to solve our greatest challenges. The most innovative technologists, influential minds and passionate activists will come together with one shared goal: to unlock the potential of new media and technology to make the world a better place, and then to translate that potential into action.

This year, the organisers are shooting for a high level of engagement around the globe. To enable that, the talks will be streamed live via YouTube.

Given this, they’ve encouraged people to come together across different countries and host their own local meetups around the same themes. Here people will have the opportunity of viewing talks from the Summit live, and they’ll also be able to host their own local speakers. At the end of it, feedback from all these different meetups will be collected and used to paint a portrait of the ideas and innovations from around the world on that day.

Our plans

We’ve decided to host our own meetup of sorts through facebook. On Saturday, we’ll be choosing select talks and posting points/questions around those talks. We encourage you all to come to these posts and take the conversation forward to see how we too can address the themes chosen.

The BIG question: “How can new technology and new media create solutions for the biggest problems facing my community?”
